Mahurangi Taster
This trip is suitable for all levels of experience, including those who have just completed their Kayak Skills Course. It is short and easy, and at a leisurely pace, and it's a great way for new paddlers to get some fitness and experience while under the care of our leaders and club members.
Meet at
Sullivan's Bay (Otarawao Bay on Google Earth). Meet at 8am with 8.30 on the water.
Off water probably around 11:30 am.
Low tide is at 08:28 and high tide is at 14:48
Trip plan: Paddle around Pudding island to Te Muri, from there paddle around (and possibly land at Saddle island). Estimated distance will be around 9 km (slightly more if we want to do a bit more exploring)
We may also just stay in Mahurangi Harbour if the weather dictates. The decision will be made on the day.
What to Bring:
- Kayak
- Paddle
- PFD
- VHF (if you have one)
- Change of clothes
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Snacks for stop
- Drinking water
- Rock shoes / booties
Post paddle barbequeue: I will be sticking around for a post paddle barbeque, if anyone is keen to join (we may need an extra one or two gas grills if we have a large number joining). BYO, meat, drinks and sides.
