Tiritiri Matangi 

This trip is suitable for Intermediate and strong beginners. This trip will be between 15 and 22 km (if circumnavigating the island) so a good level of fitness is recommended.

Meet at Army Bay at 08:30 to be on the water at 09:00. Estimated time off the water is 15:00

Low Tide is at 06:10 and high tide is at 12:29

Trip Plan: Paddle out from Army Bay to Hobbs Beach for a leg stretch. Some can choose whether they want to walk the island (or relax on the beach) while the rest of the group circumnavigate around the back of the island. All of the group to meet  back at Hobbs beach at 12:15. Have lunch at Hobbs beach and then head back to Army Bay.

This trip is weather dependent and we may opt for a different route, should the conditions not be conducive to a safe channel crossing.

What to bring:

·       Kayak

·       Paddle

·       Spray skirt

·       VHF (If you have one)

·       PLB (if you have one).

·       Change of clothes

·       Sunscreen

·       Hat

·       Helmet (if you are planning on rock gardening)

·       Lunch

·       Sufficient water for the day

·       Rock Shoes / booties

·       Bilge pump (recommended)
