Get ready for a stunning paddle to one of the Hauraki Gulf’s most iconic wildlife sanctuaries. This full-day sea kayak tour is an unforgettable way to experience the Hauraki Gulf, with native birds, rich history, and pristine coastlines waiting at your destination.
Kayak tours are run on demand, minimum numbers apply.
What Awaits You:
– A sea kayak crossing from Whangaparāoa to the island
– Expert guidance, paddling tips, and all safety gear provided
– A beach landing on Tiritiri Matangi, followed by free time to explore the island’s birdlife, lighthouse, walking tracks, and breathtaking views
– A paddle back across the Gulf – with luck, you may spot dolphins or penguins on the way home!

Family-Friendly Fun:
Day tours are approximately 6-7 hours long and operate from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Minimum Age: 13 years
Who Can Join in:
No previous kayaking experience is necessary, but a moderate fitness level is required.
If the weather conditions aren’t favourable, an alternative location to paddle will be considered.

What to Bring?
Swimming togs and towel.
Warm extra layers; no cotton/denim jeans.
A lightweight windbreaker/raincoat is recommended.
Well-fitting wet shoes, sand shoes will do, but they will get wet.
Water bottle.
Sun protection, personal medication, waterproof camera, and polaroid sunglasses, if you have them are great.
Spare warm clothes to change into when finished.
Please pack your lunch and snacks for the day.
For Spring & Autumn Tours (Oct, Nov, Mar, Apr), make sure to have extra warm layers and a beanie.Please note: Transport to the start location is not included.
