Yakity Yak Pohutukawa Coast Paddle - Sunday 30th October 2022 - CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST
As we move through spring we are looking forward to doing this paddle which is quite spectacular as the Pohutukawa come into bloom along the cliffs of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
In parts you paddle along the cliff bases under the tree branches which are covered in bloom. I also remember on a past paddle here seeing a little blue penguin with his own little ball of anchovies, about a metre round - he was having a great time.
This is a very safe paddle of about 9km each way. The route takes you along the coast and can stop anywhere to stretch your legs. As long as the wind direction has an element of North in it, the route is very sheltered
Open to all Yakity Yak members all levels
High tide is at 11:57 am on Sunday 30 October so plan is to meet at Arkles Bay at 9:30 am for 10am start
Stop at Gulf Harbour 4km from start for leg stretch and optional coffee from marina cafe
Paddle on to Okoromai Bay to land for lunch - high tide should offer plenty of water.
Gentle 8.6 km paddle home
Off water by 3pm
Looking forward to seeing you there.
